Nine states to join regional agriculture meet in Lucknow
Lucknow, April 24 -- Representatives from nine states, including agriculture and horticulture ministers, officials, scientists and farmers, will take part in the Regional Agriculture Conference (North Zone) in Lucknow on April 24. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will attend the inaugural session.
State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said the conference will review key issues such as agricultural credit, Kisan Credit Cards, the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, FPOs, start-ups, NABARD support, procurement and irrigation.
States will share best practices on crop diversification, horticulture and income enhancement. Uttar Pradesh will present intercropping in sugarcane and direct seeding of rice (DSR), recognised as a beneficial method.
Discussions will also focus on curbing fake agro-inputs, promoting balanced fertiliser use and exploring sustainable alternatives....
