NIA searches at 15 locations including two in Gkp
LUCKNOW, June 1 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted a massive search operation at 15 locations in eight states across the country, including two locations in Gorakhpur in a Pakistan-linked espionage case.
An NIA spokesperson confirmed that the searches were conducted on the premises of suspects linked with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) in the states of UP, Delhi, Maharashtra (Mumbai), Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam and West Bengal.
In a press note, the spokesman said that during the searches, NIA teams have seized several electronic gadgets and sensitive financial documents, along with other incriminating material. These are being examined for clues to the espionage racket being run by Pakistan-based operatives as part of an anti-India terror conspiracy.
NIA had registered a case on May 20 following the arrest of a man who had been sharing sensitive information with PIOs since 2023 and had received funds through various conduits in India, in lieu.
In Gorakhpur, the NIA team detained Munni Lal Yadav, a former village head and the elder brother of Thailand-based trader Panne Lal Yadav, for questioning. The team first raided the ancestral home of Panne Lal Yadav in a village under the jurisdiction of Khajni Police Station. Munni Lal Yadav was taken into custody from the residence.
The second raid was conducted at a double-storey building near Azad Chowk, also linked to the Yadav family....
