New tubewells, tanks to tackle Jankipuram's water shortage
LUCKNOW, Aug. 31 -- Several drinking water projects were launched in Jankipuram Sector-J (Extension) on Saturday to resolve the locality's long-standing shortage. Urban development and energy minister A.K. Sharma and mayor Sushma Kharkwal laid the foundation stone at a ceremony attended by legislators, corporators, and residents.
The Jal Kal department of Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will execute the works aimed at strengthening supply by installing new tubewells, re-boring old ones, expanding storage capacity, and reconstructing overhead tanks. Officials said the projects will ensure regular and clean drinking water for thousands of families.
Key projects include the re-boring of a tubewell in Sector-J, Part-4, installation of two new tubewells at Shiv Temple LDA Park (3/385 residential scheme) and near Sulabh Awas opposite building C-06, construction of a 660 KL clear water reservoir (CWR) in the underground reservoir campus, and demolition and reconstruction of a 1500 KL overhead tank in Part-1. Minister AK Sharma said the government was committed to improving amenities. "With the completion of these projects, the long-standing water scarcity problem in Jankipuram will be resolved, benefitting thousands of households," he said.
MLAs Neeraj Bora and Yogesh Shukla, who attended as special guests, congratulated residents, saying the projects would meet their long-pending demand for improved facilities....
