Lucknow, June 28 -- A new public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court, seeking directives to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a retired high court judge to probe the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The PIL is listed for hearing at serial number 387 on June 29 cause list before the summer vacation division bench of Justice Manish Mathur and Justice Zafeer Ahmed. The petition was filed by the Gandhivadi Adhivakta Vichar Manch through its convener Dileep Kumar Mishra. The petition names the Uttar Pradesh government through its chief secretary, the Ayodhya district magistrate, the SSP, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust through its general secretary and the State Bank of India, through its Naya Ghat Ayodhya branch manager, as opposite parties.
