LUCKNOW, July 31 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled an ambitious Rs.109.20-crore development plan aimed at strengthening Varanasi's identity as a premier hub for literary, cultural and experiential tourism. Museums dedicated to Munshi Premchand and Sant Ravidas will serve as the centerpiece of this new roadmap. The plan, reviewed on Thursday at the Divisional Commissioner's office in Varanasi, covers 36 tourism projects under the 2026-27 Action Plan in which 22 are located in Varanasi, six in Jaunpur, five in Ghazipur and three in Chandauli. Among those, the flagship projects are the Sant Ravidas Museum, Munshi Premchand Memorial Museum and Library, auditorium, etc. Sant Ravidas Museum is being developed under the Union government's Museum Grant Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs.24.63 crore.
