New helpline in Lucknow to tackle drug, human trafficking
LUCKNOW, April 25 -- The Lucknow Police Commissionerate on Friday launched a dedicated helpline to encourage citizens to report illegal activities, especially drug and human trafficking, officials said.
According to the crime branch, the helpline number- 7839861034- has been made operational from Friday as part of a new initiative under the Uttar Pradesh government's zero tolerance policy against organized crime. The move aims to enhance public participation and ensure swift action on credible inputs.
According to the press release shared by the police, citizens can share information related to criminal activities in their areas while maintaining complete confidentiality. In addition, the crime branch has also launched an official X handle, @Crime_branchlko, to spread awareness about organised and cyber crimes. The platform will regularly share advisories on issues such as online fraud, fake calls, digital scams, and trafficking, along with preventive measures.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Kiran Yadav said the initiative is designed to empower citizens and strengthen policing efforts. "The helpline will function 24x7 and the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. Suitable rewards will also be given for credible information," she said, urging people to come forward without fear....
