Nepalese man throws three-year-old son in gorge, dies by suicide
Dehradun, Oct. 23 -- A 30-year-old man from Nepal allegedly killed his three-month-old son by throwing him into a 300-metre-deep gorge before ending his own life in Daboli village under Kotdwar tehsil of Pauri Garhwal district, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, information about the incident was received from the 112 Control Room around 4.30 pm on Tuesday.
A team from Lansdowne police station rushed to the spot, where the deceased's wife informed officers that her husband, a native of Dailekh district in Nepal's Karnali Province, had consumed alcohol and entered into an argument with her around 1.30 pm.
During the altercation, the man allegedly snatched their infant son from her arms and threw him into a nearby gorge. Both parents then searched for the child, but when they could not locate him, the man jumped into the same gorge.
Villagers later managed to retrieve both the man and the child. The infant was found dead, while the man was still breathing. He was taken to Chailusain hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police said both bodies were sent to the mortuary in Kotdwar. The panchayatnama and postmortem proceedings, which could not be completed on Monday, were carried out on Tuesday.

On the festival day, he came home intoxicated, and during an argument, he snatched the child from his wife and threw him into the gorge before jumping himself," Sharma said.
"We haven't received any formal complaint. The panchayatnama and postmortem proceedings have been completed, and further action will be taken as per procedure," the officer added....
