Nature guides' fee increased for Corbett jungle safari
Rudrapur, May 23 -- The administration of Corbett Tiger Reserve has increased the fee for mandatory nature guides accompanying tourists during gypsy and canter jungle safaris, officials said.
According to officials, the guide fee for both gypsy and canter safari has been increased by Rs.100 following long-standing demands by registered guides.
"Guides were demanding a hike in fee. Nature guides' fee has been hiked for gypsy and canter safari. CTR has started charging the revised fee," said Park Warden Binder Pal.
Earlier, tourists had to pay Rs.900 for a guide during a gypsy safari and Rs.1,150 for a canter safari. Following the revision, the fee has been increased to Rs.1,000 for gypsy safari guides and Rs.1,250 for canter safari guides. Officials said the reserve has 161 registered nature guides, including six women guides.
The reserve conducts jungle safari sessions twice daily, across different tourism zones. Officials said hiring a guide during safari is mandatory as guides provide tourists with information on safari rules, wildlife behaviour and the ecological environment of the reserve....
