New Delhi, Aug. 28 -- India's engagement with the world should always align closely with the aspirations of our people, President Droupadi Murmu said on Thursday, while addressing trainee officers of Indian Foreign Service (IFS). She advised the diplomats to remain alert to emerging opportunities as "India's economic rise is creating new possibilities for our engagement with the world". Speaking at an event of 2025 batch IFS officers and two diplomats from Bhutan, President Murmu said, "India's engagement with the world should always align closely with the aspirations of our people: Rashtrahit Sarvopari (national interest is supreme). This should remain an enduring principle of Indian Foreign Service officers' professional lives." She also highlighted the expanding role of diplomacy as the country progresses towards the goal of becoming Viksit Bharat by 2047. Reminding the officers of their "privilege and responsibility of representing India abroad and advancing the nation's interests, and strengthening India's relations with countries across the world", Murmu pointed out that India's economic rise is creating new possibilities for our engagement with the world....
