LUCKNOW, Sept. 19 -- Six months after the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) organised a lottery for its Narmada Apartment project, the authority has now started looking for an alternative site as construction of the proposed 29-storey high-rise has not begun. The LDA conducted the lottery for 312 flats on March 12, but the project remains stuck amid a pending legal matter concerning the proposed site. Senior LDA officials said they have now started identifying other land parcels where the project could be shifted. The development has left hundreds of applicants who secured units through the lottery waiting for clarity on the project's location and construction timeline. "The matter is sub judice and the decision is still awaited. If the project faces difficulty at the proposed location, the authority will have other options," a senior LDA official said. Another senior official confirmed that the authority has begun examining alternative land for the proposed project. Earlier, residents of Rapti River View Enclave in Sector-4 of Gomti Nagar Extension opposed the project, citing fire-safety and emergency-access concerns. They protested on August 30 against the proposed tower, which they said would come up barely nine metres from their housing complex.
