PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 8 -- An unidentified drone was spotted on September 05 in the restricted zone of Air Force Station Bamrauli, Prayagraj, triggering a security alert and prompting an investigation by local police. As per the FIR registered under section 223 of BNS at the Airport police station, an Air Force jawan saw the drone flying in the restricted zone at 1.28 pm, 2pm, 2.10 pm, and 2.38 pm during surveillance from a watchtower, causing concern among security personnel. Following the sightings, Wing Commander Vikas Vaibhav, security officer at the Air Force station, lodged a complaint at the Airport police station. Police have launched an investigation to identify the person behind the drone operation and ascertain the purpose of the flight. Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Drone Rules 2021, drone operations are prohibited within a three-kilometre radius of the Air Force station without prior permission. As per Air Force officials, any drone activity within the no-drone zone requires official clearance. However, the unidentified drone was allegedly flown without authorization, leading to a possible breach of security protocols at the sensitive installation. Airport police station inspector Vaibhav Singh said a case has been registered based on the complaint and further investigation is underway.
