Muz'nagar woman on the run for months held for plotting husband's murder
MEERUT, Dec. 15 -- A woman has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating the murder of her husband on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway in Muzaffarnagar's Chhapar area. The victim, identified as Salman, a resident of Meerut, was found dead with gunshot wounds earlier this year.
According to the police, Salman was shot twice and his body was found on the highway, prompting an intensive investigation. The probe later revealed that the murder was the result of a conspiracy hatched by Salman's wife, Sumaiyya, who was reportedly involved in an illicit relationship. Salman had been opposing the relationship, which allegedly led Sumaiyya to plot his murder with the help of her lover.
Investigators said that the first bullet was allegedly fired at Salman by Sumaiyya's lover at her behest. After Salman collapsed on the road and was writhing in pain, Sumaiyya is accused of firing the second shot herself, killing him on the spot. The police had earlier arrested two accused, who are currently lodged in jail. During the investigation, an encounter occurred in which the police conducted a 'half encounter' with the arrested accused. However, the prime accused, Sumaiyya, remained absconding. The police had announced a reward of Rs.20,000 for information leading to her capture.
After months of searching, the police finally apprehended Sumaiyya in Delhi. She was subsequently presented before a court.
Confirming the arrest, deputy superintendent of police Ravishankar Mishra stated that Sumaiyya, along with her lover, had planned and carried out the murder of her husband by shooting him.
"A reward of Rs.20,000 had been announced for her capture. Two other accused in the case are already in jail," he added....
