Bhopal, Aug. 1 -- After two weeks, Muslims offered Friday prayers on a plot of land adjacent to the boundary wall of the Kamala Maula Dargah near Bhojshala complex in Dhar. The administration levelled a plot and spread plastic sheets over rain-soaked muddy soil and allowed the prayers after 2 pm. This was done at the instance of the Supreme Court. Police forces were deployed for security and barricades were put up after a few locals objected to the administration's decision to allow the prayers; they claimed the land was private property but failed to show any legal papers, officials claimed. "We offered prayer on the space provided by the administration as a temporary arrangement till the final hearing of the Supreme Court. The space was even and muddy but the administration used plastic covering. Now, we are satisfied that at least we can see Kamal Maula Mosque while offering prayer," said Kamal Maula Welfare Society's Abdul Samad. On July 10, the Supreme Court asked the administration to allocate land adjacent to Bhojshala for Friday Namaz between 1 PM and 3 pm. The administration had designated land near Chalispir Dargah in Maliwada village, about 1.5 km away, but the Muslim community refused to perform prayers there. During Thursday's hearing the top court approved the adjacent plot of land. However, a few villagers staged a protest against this allocation of farm land. A local resident Radha Devda said, "This is private land and belongs to my father and brothers. They asked for papers but we couldn't provide them as the male members weren't present." Sub-divisional Magistrate Rajkumar Haldar said, "In the records, khasra no 611 and 612 belong to the government. They couldn't show us the papers but we have given them time."
