Mumbai man uses spy camera inside Badrinath temple, booked
Dehradun, July 7 -- A man was booked by Chamoli police for allegedly recording videos and photographs inside the sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) of the Badrinath temple using a spy camera (in his spectacles), violating the shrine's security protocols and religious sanctity, police said on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Jaiprakash Pandey, a resident of Nohar Road in Mumbai. According to the police, he was caught allegedly recording videos and taking photographs inside the temple's restricted sanctum area using a concealed spy camera in his glasses, an act prohibited under the temple's security guidelines.
Taking immediate cognisance of the incident, the police initiated action against him under Section 81 of the Uttarakhand Police Act for violating prescribed rules inside the shrine premises.
Police officials said all videos and photographs recovered from the spy camera were deleted on the spot to prevent any breach of the temple's security and religious decorum. Chamoli police has appealed to devotees to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the temple administration and refrain from photography in prohibited areas.
They have warned of strict legal action against violators of rules ....
