Meerut, June 10 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided the residence of a hotel operator in Meerut as part of an investigation into alleged multi-crore land fraud cases linked to Noida. The operation, which began early in the morning, triggered widespread interest and concern in the neighbourhood. The raid was conducted at the residence of Harish Kumar, a hotel operator residing in Dinesh Vihar Colony on Baghpat Road under the jurisdiction of the TP Nagar police station. ED officials arrived at the property shortly after dawn and remained on the premises for several hours, questioning family members and examining documents. According to officials, Harish Kumar runs a hotel on the Partapur Bypass and has been under scrutiny in connection with multiple alleged fraud cases involving land transactions worth crores of rupees in Noida. Several FIRs have reportedly been registered against him, and investigators believe he had been evading authorities following the registration of these cases. The ED's action is understood to be part of a broader investigation into suspected financial irregularities and fraudulent property dealings. Officials are reportedly examining records and gathering evidence related to the alleged transactions. Speaking on the development, CO Brahmpuri Saumya Asthana said local police were extending full cooperation to the ED team throughout the operation. She clarified that no outsiders were being allowed access to the premises while the search was underway. Family members present inside the house were also not permitted to leave during the course of the investigation. The sudden arrival of central agency officials created a buzz across Dinesh Vihar Colony, with residents gathering at a distance to observe developments. Local police personnel remained deployed in the area to maintain law and order and prevent any disruption to the ongoing proceedings. As of Tuesday evening, ED officials were continuing their search and questioning.
