Mother arrested for allegedly plotting six-year-old son's murder
MEERUT, June 20 -- Meerut police on Friday arrested Gurpreet Kaur ,27, the mother of six-year-old Angadveer, alleging that she conspired with her lover to murder the child.
Police said Gurpreet's arrest followed the recovery of call records, chats and video call logs that allegedly showed her involvement in planning the murder with Arpit Sharma, who was arrested earlier in the case.
According to investigators, Gurpreet and Arpit wanted to marry, but viewed the child as an obstacle to their relationship. Police claimed Gurpreet knew Arpit was taking Angadveer away on June 16 and was aware of his alleged plan to kill him.
Investigators said technical evidence and questioning revealed that Gurpreet remained in regular contact with Arpit on the day of the crime. Police also recovered deleted chats and call records, which allegedly showed repeated communication between the two before and after the murder. The case initially appeared to be a missing child investigation. Gurpreet had reported her son missing and joined relatives and neighbours in search efforts. However, police became suspicious after CCTV footage showed Angadveer leaving in a WagonR car. Investigators said Gurpreet appeared nervous when police traced the vehicle and its owner.
Police alleged that she later deleted conversations with Arpit in an attempt to destroy evidence, but forensic experts recovered the data.
SP Rural Abhijeet Kumar said multiple teams, including local police, surveillance units and the SWAT team, investigated the case. Arpit allegedly confessed to taking the child to a forested area and killing him. The body was later recovered based on his disclosure. Police said Gurpreet has been sent to judicial custody, and further legal proceedings are underway....
