LUCKNOW, May 23 -- Harsher days of more intense heat lie ahead, with temperatures expected to climb further, if predictions made by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) are to be believed. Warnings have been issued for heatwave conditions very likely at a few places during the day over East UP and West UP. Warm night conditions are very likely at isolated places over the state, the weatherman predicted. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Lucknow were 42.4deg C and 28.8deg C on Friday. The forecast for Saturday is a clear sky with the maximum and minimum temperature hovering around 44 & 30deg C, respectively. The IMD has issued "red", "orange" and "yellow" heatwave alerts for different districts. On Friday, Banda remained hottest in UP at 46.4deg C, Prayagraj was not far behind at 46.2deg C, Jhansi and Orai at 45.4deg C, Agra 45.3deg C and Hamirpur 45.2deg C. The forecast for the state is weather mostly dry and strong dust-raising wind (speed 25 to 35 kmph) very likely over the state.
