Meerut, Aug. 19 -- choolchildren and local women staged a protest on Tuesday demanding the closure of a liquor shop in a residential area of Moradabad, alleging that the outlet has compromised the neighbourhood's safety and atmosphere. The demonstration began around 2 pm in Ekta Colony, under the Majhola police station area. Protesters, including a large number of schoolchildren, carrying banners and placards, gathered to demand the immediate shutdown of the shop, which they claim has become a hub for anti-social elements. Women participating in the protest stated that the presence of the outlet makes it difficult for families, particularly young girls, to move about safely. Upon receiving reports of the gathering, district magistrate (DM) Rajendra Pensiya arrived at the scene accompanied by a large police contingent. Addressing the protesters via a loudspeaker, the DM assured them that their grievances would be investigated seriously.htc...
