PRAYAGRAJ, July 31 -- The body of a differently-abled man who had been missing since July 25 was recovered from a canal culvert in the Patti area of Pratapgarh district on Thursday, with family members and villagers alleging foul play in the case. The deceased was identified as Ramu Patelm 45, a resident of Asthara village under the Kandhai police station limits. Police recovered his body from a canal culvert at Kundanpur after being alerted by local villagers. The deceased, who was differently-abled in both legs, relied on a tri-moped for mobility. According to family members, he had left home on July 25 but did not return. The circumstances surrounding the death have raised suspicions among family members. They pointed out that Ramu's tri-moped had earlier been found parked near the same culvert, but there was no trace of him at the time. SHO of Patti police station Shubhnath Sahani said the exact cause of death would be established only after the post-mortem report was received. A 38-year-old man allegedly died by suicide at his residence in the Allapur area of Prayagraj on Wednesday night, with police claiming to have recovered a suicide note in which he accused a woman and her brother of blackmail and harassment. According to police, the deceased worked for a private company and was found hanging inside his house on Wednesday night. After being alerted, police reached the spot and began an investigation. During the search, officers recovered a suicide note in which the deceased blamed a woman from the Naini area and her brother for driving him to take the extreme step. Police said the note alleged that the woman had been pressuring the deceased to either marry her or pay her Rs 30 lakh, while threatening to implicate him in a rape case if her demands were not met. The woman had also reportedly submitted a complaint regarding the matter at a local police outpost. Following the incident, the deceased's brother lodged a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint and preliminary findings, a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against the woman and her brother and the woman has been detained. The body of a 19-year-old youth, who had gone missing after leaving home on Wednesday evening, was found floating in a pond near his village under the Baghrai police station area in Pratapgarh on Thursday afternoon. According to family members, the deceased left home late on Wednesday evening for some work but did not return. Concerned over his prolonged absence, family members launched a search during the night but were unable to trace him. The search continued until Thursday afternoon. At around 2 pm on Thursday, a villager noticed a body floating in a pond located outside the village. On taking a closer look, he identified the deceased as Deepak and immediately informed the family and other villagers. Relatives have alleged that the pond had been excessively deepened during soil excavation work linked to the Ganga Expressway project, claiming that the contractor had dug beyond permissible limits. They believe the unusually deep pond may have contributed to the tragedy. On receiving information, SHO Virendra Pratap Singh reached the spot, conducted preliminary inquiries and sent the body for post-mortem examination....
