KANPUR, April 8 -- The body of a 17-year-old girl, who had been missing for five days, was found in a disused well in Nimoni village under Uldan police area in Jhansi on Tuesday. The girl, a Class 12 student, had gone missing on April 2. Her family had filed a missing person report and a search had been under way. Around 10.30am, villagers passing by the old, unused well spotted a body in the undergrowth inside it. A large number of residents gathered at the scene. Acting on information from village head Rajkumar Mishra, SP city Preeti Singh reached the spot and retrieved the body with help from locals. The deceased was identified as the missing student. The girl's lower body was unclothed, and her dupatta was found around her face. Family members alleged she had been sexually assaulted and killed, and claimed her eyes had been gouged out.
