LUCKNOW, Nov. 1 -- Police on Saturday cracked the October 27 murder and robbery of an elderly woman in the Ashiana area with the arrest of three adults and the detention of a minor girl who worked as a domestic help at the victim's residence. The deceased, identified as Neera Gupta, lived alone in Ashiana. According to investigators, the minor domestic worker allegedly masterminded the heist alongside three accomplices - Ravi Prakash Rawat, 20, and Sarita Rawat, 23, both residents of Lucknow, and Moni Rawat, 20, a resident of Loni Katra in Barabanki. Addressing a media on Saturday, DCP (Central) Arpit Vijayvargiya said that the crime was motivated by greed. To execute the theft smoothly, the minor allegedly laced Gupta's milk with an intoxicating substance to render her unconscious before letting her accomplices into the house. According to the police reconstruction of the crime, Sarita stood guard outside the residence while Ravi, Moni and the minor girl entered the premises wearing gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints. However, the plan went awry when Gupta woke up mid-robbery and put up a resistance. In the ensuing struggle, Ravi pinned her down and pressed a pillow over her face, while Moni and the minor strangled her. To ensure she did not survive, the minor allegedly struck the back of Gupta's head with a heavy iron pestle used for crushing spices, killing her on the spot. The four then fled the scene.Htc...
