LUCKNOW, Sept. 9 -- Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Tuesday directed officials to launch a campaign across rural Uttar Pradesh in October to repair roads damaged during the laying of water pipelines under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Singh conducted a division-wise review of drinking water schemes through video conferencing at the State Drinking Water and Sanitation Mission office and directed officials to complete preparations for the campaign. Several village roads have been dug up for laying pipelines, and rainfall during the monsoon has made commuting difficult for residents. He also directed engineers to regularly monitor drinking water projects and ensure their timely completion.
