LUCKNOW, July 1 -- Students, teachers and researchers got to observe a genuine meteorite specimen (NWA 17418 Diogenite Meteorite) as part of a one-day scientific awareness programme to promote public understanding of asteroids, meteorites, planetary defence, and space science to commemorate International Asteroid Day at Indira Gandhi Planetarium on Tuesday. It was organised by Indira Gandhi Planetarium in collaboration with the UP Amateur Astronomers Club (UPAAC). One of the major attractions of the event was the session by Rajeev Kumar, scientist at ISRO-ISTRAC. Shankar Dayal Pathak, astrophysicist, Amity University and Amritanshu Vajpayee, national convenor of the Saptarishi India Asteroid Search Campaign also made presentations on the occasion. htc...
