Meerut, July 31 -- The Meerut Range Police has rolled out an extensive, technology-driven security plan for the Kanwar Yatra 2026, deploying thousands of surveillance devices and advanced monitoring systems to ensure the annual pilgrimage is conducted safely and peacefully. Pilgrimage routes and major Shiva temples across the range will be kept under constant watch using 3,000 IP cameras, thousands of CCTV cameras, 100 drones, 19 watch towers, and 30 monitoring walls, enabling authorities to maintain real-time surveillance throughout the yatra. Meerut range deputy inspector general (DIG) Kalanidhi Naithani said the police have made elaborate security arrangements and remains on high alert for the duration of the pilgrimage. Additional police personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations, while all activities along the yatra routes will be monitored round the clock to ensure prompt response to any security concern. The DIG also issued a stern warning against spreading misinformation on social media. He said misleading videos, rumours, or any posts intended to disturb communal harmony or disrupt the peaceful conduct of the pilgrimage will be treated with utmost seriousness. Authorities will identify those responsible and initiate strict legal action against them. According to the Meerut range police, the high-tech surveillance network has been designed to enhance the safety of Kanwariyas, ensure smooth traffic management, and prevent any untoward incidents before they escalate. Police and administrative teams from all districts under the Meerut Range will remain in close coordination and continuously monitor the Kanwar Yatra to ensure the event concludes without any disruption....
