Meerut, Oct. 9 -- Police on Wednesday solved the murder case of a woman whose throat-slit body was found on October 4 in the Vedvyaspuri Industrial Area of Meerut's Tejpur Nagar. The accused, a schoolteacher identified as Manoj Kumar, a resident of Dugarwali village in Partapur, has been arrested. Police said the woman was his lover, and the murder was committed in a drunken brawl sparked by Manoj's suspicion that she was seeing another man. According to officials, the body of the woman was discovered by one Krishna Pal, a resident of Puttha village, lying in bushes near Sector 8 of the Vedvyaspuri Industrial Area. He immediately alerted the police. A police team reached the spot, initiated an investigation, and sent the unidentified body to the mortuary. The woman's throat had been deeply slashed with a sharp-edged weapon. Her right arm bore tattoos with the names "Deepak," "Dharmapal," and "Anita." Locals initially suspected that she might have been sexually assaulted before being murdered. A day later, police identified the deceased as Anita (40), wife of Dara Singh, a resident of Saraswa under Daurala police station.
