Mayor makes 6am-9am field duty mandatory for LMC officials
LUCKNOW, July 17 -- As part of the intensified preparations for Swachh Survekshan-2026, mayor Sushma Kharkwal directed all senior municipal officials and engineers to remain in the field daily from 6 am to 9 am, warning that absenteeism and negligence will lead to disciplinary action.
The move aims to improve sanitation, ensure faster redressal of civic complaints, and strengthen the city's performance in the national cleanliness survey.
Issuing strict directions to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), Kharkwal said residents continue to face problems due to road cutting, construction debris, garbage accumulation and waterlogging during the monsoon. She noted that inadequate field inspections by officials delayed the resolution of these issues and affected civic services.
She directed all additional municipal commissioners, zonal officers, city engineers, assistant engineers, junior engineers, zonal health officers, sanitation inspectors and food inspectors to carry out daily inspections in their respective zones. She also instructed the officials to identify issues on the spot and ensure their immediate resolution rather than waiting for complaints to escalate.
Under the revised work schedule, all concerned officials must remain in the field every day between 6 am and 9 am and report their attendance to senior officers. They will attend to office work only from 12 noon onwards after completing field inspections.
The mayor warned that any official or engineer found absent from the field during the designated hours would face disciplinary action. htc...
