Mandi Parishad cracks down on lapses in Sultanpur, Varanasi
Lucknow, Oct. 6 -- Mandi Parishad on Monday ordered corrective measures and disciplinary action over lapses in infrastructure, cleanliness and encroachments at market yards in Sultanpur, Varanasi and Ghazipur.
The action came during director Jitendra Pratap Singh's surprise inspection of government mandis in these districts.
Singh directed officials to remove all illegal encroachments within 15 days and ordered that the salary of the in-charge secretary not be drawn until a certificate confirming complete removal of encroachments is submitted.

At the Integrated Pack House in Karkhiyav, Varanasi, Singh directed that operations begin without unnecessary delay. He also ordered corrective action over unsatisfactory sanitary ware and sought a detailed report on technical issues and their proposed solutions within 10 days.

Taking serious note of repeated failure to act despite earlier directions, Singh ordered the suspension of market secretary Mukesh Jaiswal. Singh warned negligence in ensuring clean, encroachment-free and farmer-friendly market facilities would invite strict action. htc...
