Man shoots self with licensed pistol
Lucknow, Oct. 3 -- A 35-year-old man died after allegedly shooting himself in the head with his licensed pistol at Amethia Salempur village under Dubagga police station limits on Friday, police said.
The incident was reported to the Dubagga police around 4.40 pm. Family members rushed the injured man to the Trauma Centre at KGMU, where doctors declared him dead during treatment. According to police, the licensed pistol allegedly used in the incident has been taken into custody and evidence is being collected as part of the investigation.
Police said the reason behind the incident was not immediately clear. Statements of family members and other people known to the deceased are being recorded to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death. Further legal proceedings are underway, police said.
A 35-year-old woman who went missing from her home on Thursday night was found dead in the Behta drain in Malihabad on Friday, police said. The circumstances surrounding her death are being investigated.
The body of the deceased, Kanchan, wife of Ramsagar and a resident of Kundra Kala village, was spotted floating in the drain by locals, who alerted the police. A police team reached the spot and, with the help of villagers, recovered the body. Neighbours alleged that Kanchan was mentally unstable. According to her husband, Kanchan had dinner with him and their five-year-old daughter, Aaradhya, on Thursday night after which she left the house alone without informing anyone in the family.
