Man set to get back Rs 10 lakh cheated by cybercons
VARANASI, March 22 -- A man, resident of Shivpur area, was cheated of Rs 10 lakh by cyber criminals on March 19, said cyber crime police. Taking prompt action in the matter, the cyber crime police contacted the bank and got the defrauded amount frozen and started the process to return the amount to the victim.
Assistant commissioner of police, cyber crime, Vidush Saxena, said that on March 19 Jaiprakash Singh, a resident of Shivpur area, filed a complaint with the cyber crime police, Varanasi, informing that he had been cheated of Rs 10 lakh by unknown people by 'digitally arresting' him and threatening to arrest him.
The ACP said that a team including Inspector in-charge Cyber Police Station Varanasi, Udayveer Singh, inspector in charge Manoj Kumar Tiwari Cyber Crime Cell Varanasi, Sub Inspector Alok Ranjan Singh, and Constable Rohit Tiwari, was constituted. The team immediately established contact with the concerned banks and Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and got the entire amount frozen in the bank. Now the process of releasing the amount in favour of the complainant is being carried out by establishing contact with the court.HT...
