Kanpur, Sept. 23 -- The headless body of a 35-year-old man was found on a road in Kanpur's Bilhaur area on Tuesday morning. The head was found lying about 100 metres away from the body in a water-filled pit. The deceased identified as Raj Kishore was found killed near the Khurd Khojanpur turn on Makanpur Road. His bicycle was lying nearby, while a torn shirt collar and a thumb were also found some distance away. Police said the preliminary investigation suggested that Raj Kishore had been killed with a sharp-edged weapon. There were no other apparent injury marks on his body. The circumstances of the murder, including the motive and identity of the attackers, are being investigated. Raj Kishore, who lived with his wife and three daughters in Vaishnav Nagar in Bilhaur, had left home around 8am on Tuesday on his bicycle. His wife Madhu said he had told the family he was going to Deuha village to sell his goods. Around 9 am, locals spotted his body near the Khurd Khojanpur turn and informed the police. A search of the area followed, and after about an hour, police found his severed head in a pit around 10 metres away from the body. DCP SM Qasim Abidi reached the spot along with the Bilhaur police and forensic team. Forensic personnel collected evidence from the scene, while the body was sent for postmortem. Abidi said family members were being questioned and forensic evidence had been collected from the crime scene. "Teams have been deployed to work out the murder," he said....
