Man killed after dispute over wedding expenses
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 8 -- A 29-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his father and brother-in-law in Sevait village under Soraon police station in Prayagraj on Saturday, following a dispute over expenses related to the upcoming wedding of the victim's sister, said police.
The deceased, Anil Kumar, a resident of Rauza Mohalla in Sevait, had been arguing with his father, Guddu, and his elder brother-in-law, Raju, over money required for wedding shopping for his sister, Kajal, whose marriage was scheduled later this month. Villagers claimed that all three-Anil, his father, and his brother-in-law - had consumed alcohol at the time of the incident. SHO Keshav Verma confirmed that Anil died following a family dispute.
"The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and both the accused have been detained. Legal action will be taken once a formal complaint is received," he said.
According to the complaint and local accounts, the altercation escalated to violence. It is alleged that Guddu and Raju tied up Anil, beat him, and later strangled him. When his condition deteriorated, the family took him to the Soraon hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival....
