Man held for stabbing brother-in-law to death in Bijnor
MEERUT, June 28 -- A man living at his wife's parental home allegedly stabbed his 23-year-old brother-in-law to death while he was asleep on the rooftop of his house in Bijnor district. The accused was caught by family members immediately after the attack and later arrested by police. The incident took place around 3 am on Saturday in Bhaneda village under the Kiratpur police station area.
According to police, 23-year-old Sachin was sleeping on the rooftop when the accused, identified as Sheelgange, in his early 30s, allegedly climbed onto the roof and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife, leaving him critically injured.
Hearing Sachin's screams, family members rushed to the rooftop and overpowered the accused before he could escape. Sachin allegedly died at the scene.
During the preliminary investigation, police found that Sheelgange, a resident of Begampur Shadi village, had been living at his in-laws' house in Bhaneda village for the past six years. His wife works at a thread manufacturing factory in Bijnor.
Police said the alleged murder appears to be the result of a long-running family dispute over the woman's employment. Sheelgange allegedly opposed his wife's decision to work, while Sachin supported his sister's right to continue her job. Frequent arguments between the two allegedly continued for a long time before culminating in the fatal attack.
After receiving information, police reached the spot, took the body into custody and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The accused was arrested at the scene.
SP Abhishek said a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim's family. "Further investigation is underway, and legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with the law," he said....
