LUCKNOW, Oct. 25 -- Police arrested a man accused of cheating people by selling land through forged documents and executing fake deeds in the Sushant Golf City police station limits in Lucknow. The accused, identified as Brijesh Dubey, 38, hailing from Azamgarh's Palhani village and currently residing in Virkhumba, Sonai Kajehra, under Mohanlalganj tehsil allegedly sold more land than he had legally purchased and manipulated documents to prove ownership, said a police department press release on Friday. During interrogation, he confessed to dealing in plotting and admitted to selling approximately 5,000 square feet more land than he legally owned, police said. The arrest was made on Thursday. The police presented the accused in court for remand and said further investigation was underway. According to the police, on May 23 this year a complaint was filed regarding unauthorised construction of an asphalt road and fraudulent land sale, measuring 1.404 hectare, in Sonai Kajehra village. The complainant alleged that the accused fraudulently sold excess land beyond his actual purchase. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 318(4) and 329(3) of the BNS at Sushant Golf City police station, the press release stated. During the investigation, the police examined land papers and verified records. An inquiry revealed that Dubey had prepared fake documents and executed forged sale deeds, leading to the addition of sections 338, 336(3), and 340(2) of the BNS in the case, the press release stated....
