PRAYAGRAJ, May 9 -- A contractual sanitation worker from Shahjahanpur has been arrested for allegedly creating a fake social media account in another person's name and posting objectionable remarks against chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The incident reportedly stemmed from a marriage alliance dispute involving a woman constable. Police officials said one Pawan Kumar Chaurasia, a mechanical engineer originally from Baripur village in Prayagraj's Mauaima and currently based in Bengaluru, had returned home recently. Chaurasia said his sister, a woman constable posted in Mau district, had her marriage proposal listed on a matrimonial website. A man from Shahjahanpur, who claimed to be a contractual employee with the municipal corporation, contacted the family. An engagement ceremony was subsequently held at a relative's residence in Ghaziabad. However, disputes arose between Chaurasia and the prospective groom before the marriage could be finalised. The situation escalated into verbal abuse and alleged threats over phone calls. Chaurasia later approached the cyber cell and lodged a complaint. On April 28, the accused reportedly agreed to a mutual settlement and submitted a compromise application. However, the complainant later alleged that the accused created a fake social media account in Chaurasia's name and posted objectionable content against the CM. He also allegedly harassed Chaurasia through phone calls and WhatsApp messages, threatening to have him jailed. Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Mauaima police station against Nitesh Kumar Katiyar, a resident of Buhannan village under Jalalabad Kotwali police station area in Shahjahanpur district on May 6. Acting on surveillance inputs, police detained the accused from Shahjahanpur on May 7. Deputy commissioner of police (Trans-Ganga) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat confirmed the arrest, saying the accused confessed to the crime and was produced before the court and later remanded to judicial custody on Friday....
