Agra, May 31 -- Firozabad Police on Saturday arrested a man accused of killing a one-and-a-half-year-old boy after allegedly becoming enraged when the child's mother rejected his marriage proposal. The accused, identified as Viraj alias Jitendra Pathak, was arrested following a police encounter in which he sustained injuries to both legs. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital. A video of the incident went viral wherein the accused was seen smashing the child to ground repeatedly in a lane on Saturday. The incident occurred in Shikohabad's Yadav Colony. Police said the accused had been pressuring the child's mother, Rati Devi, to marry him. Rati, who had been living with her mother in Shikohabad due to matrimonial disputes with her husband, allegedly refused the proposal because of her young son, Aarav. According to police, Viraj considered the child an obstacle and allegedly abducted Aarav from his home on Saturday before killing him. An FIR under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered. Police said they will seek a speedy trial and strict punishment for the accused. htc...
