Prayagraj, May 24 -- A long-running property dispute between brothers turned deadly in Prayagraj's trans-Yamuna region on Saturday morning when two younger brothers allegedly hacked their elder sibling to death over a pathway dispute linked to house construction, police said. The deceased was identified as Santosh Vishwakarma ,40, a resident of Badalpur village under the Mauaima police station area. Santosh worked in the furniture business in Mumbai. His wife, Archana, was also injured while trying to save him during the attack, police added. According to police, Santosh had returned from Mumbai at around 8 am on Saturday. After reaching home, he found his younger brothers, Vinod Vishwakarma and Ashok Vishwakarma, getting a foundation dug for construction work on ancestral land. Police said an argument broke out after Santosh objected and asked his brothers to leave space for a passage. The verbal dispute soon turned violent, following which the accused allegedly attacked Santosh with an axe, a shovel and a sharp-edged agricultural tool. He suffered multiple serious injuries, especially on the neck, and died on the spot. Archana was also injured while trying to intervene. The brutal murder created panic in the village as residents gathered at the blood-stained house where the incident took place. After receiving information, DCP (trans-Ganga) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat, ACP (Phulpur) Vivek Yadav, along with police and forensic teams, reached the spot and began an investigation. The injured woman was admitted to CHC Mauaima for treatment. On the complaint filed by the deceased's wife, police registered a case against Vinod Vishwakarma, his wife Neelam, Ashok Vishwakarma, his wife Neelam, and Rohit, the son of one of the accused. Police said the accused family members fled the village after the incident. DCP Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said the murder took place due to a dispute over a pathway on ancestral land where construction work was being carried out. "The weapons used in the crime have been recovered. One suspect has been detained for questioning, while efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused," the officer said....
