Man dies after falling off tower in Baksha area of Jaunpur
VARANASI, May 22 -- Dissatisfied with the measurement of land, a 30-year-old man on Thursday climbed a mobile tower in Udarejpur village under the Baksha police station area of Jaunpur district on Thursday. He died after falling off the tower while getting off it.
On Thursday morning, Rajaram's elder son, 30-year-old Shriprakash Yadav, dissatisfied with the measurement, climbed a mobile tower. Sripakash' s father had a land-related dispute with his neighbours for about 10 years. The measurement of his father's land was done in 2016 and in 2019. Sriprakash was not satisfied with this measurement.
On receiving the information, police station in-charge Virendra Kumar reached the spot. He informed the officers about it. Sub-divisional magistrate, Sadar, Santveer, circle officer, Sadar, Devesh Singh, and a team of revenue officials reached the spot with the fire brigade.
The officers tried to convince Shriprakash to come down the tower, but he did not agree. Finally, the SDM ordered immediate re-measurement under the leadership of the tehsildar. By then, seven hours passed. Then only Sriprakash stated getting off the tower. While coming down, he fell from the tower at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The police took him to the district hospital, Jaunpur, where doctors declared him dead.
After the incident, locals, including the kin present on the spot staged a protest and alleged that the officials had not taken his complaint seriously.
Meanwhile, district magistrate Samuel Paul N has constituted a three-member committee to conduct an inquiry into the matter. Additional district magistrate, finance and revenue, is the head of the committee....
