Dehradun, Nov. 3 -- A first information report (FIR) was registered against a man for allegedly creating a fake internship page in the name of Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal on LinkedIn, a police officer familiar with the matter said on Sunday.
The FIR was registered against Sahil Babbar, a resident of Dehradun, under sections 319 (2)(cheating by personation) and 336(4) (forgery for purpose of harming reputation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kotwali police station on Saturday late night on the complaint of Bansal's senior private secretary, Kamal Kishor.
Kishor in the complaint said, "It has come to the notice that a person named Sahil Babbar has created a fake internship page on LinkedIn in the name of Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal. Through the profile, Babbar is offering a two month internship with the MP. He also promised to take the interns to a Parliament tour and provide them with tickets for the Republic Day parade on January 26, 2026." "No such page has been created by the MP's office, nor has any commitment been made to conduct any Parliament internship programme. An attempt is being made to tarnish the MP's image through this fake profile. Strict action should be taken against the culprits, and the said fake profile should be removed from the platform," he said. Inspector Pradeep Pant, in-charge at Kotwali police station, said, "We have registered the FIR. We are looking into the matter from all aspects and strict action will be taken against culprits."...
