VARANASI, Aug. 8 -- A 33-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly performing dangerous stunts in an SUV on a public road near Harsos Ring Road under the Jansa police station area, police said. Jansa police station in-charge Inspector Satyajeet Singh identified the accused as Veer Bahadur Singh Patel. The inspector said a police team was carrying out vehicle checking on the ring road when they spotted an SUV being driven at high speed in reverse gear against the flow of traffic while performing stunts. The act posed a serious threat to the lives and safety of people using the road. The accused was arrested for allegedly endangering public safety by driving the vehicle in a dangerous and negligent manner on a public road. Police suspected that he was under the influence of an intoxicant. A co-passenger in the vehicle also appeared to be intoxicated.
