LUCKNOW, July 9 -- A man was allegedly abducted and assaulted in connection with a dispute over an unpaid debt linked to the Mahadev betting app, police said.In a complaint lodged at the PGI police station on July 5, Naveen Chandra Yadav, a resident of Yamunapuram Colony in Lucknow, alleged that he was lured into a trap by one Guddu Chauhan under the pretext of a property visit. According to the FIR, Guddu is the brother of Yashpal Chauhan, who had previously worked with Naveen in Dubai in connection with the Mahadev betting app operations. Yashpal had been accusing Naveen of owing him Rs.1 lakh. On July 3, Naveen was called to Vrindavan Sector 12, where he was made to sit in Guddu's SUV, which already had four other men inside. Instead of heading to the property, the vehicle was driven towards Mau via Sultanpur Road and Purvanchal Expressway. When Naveen resisted, he was allegedly beaten and threatened. The group took him to Mau where he was allegedly detained overnight at an undisclosed location. The next morning, he was allegedly forced to sign some documents at a local court. He was later put on a Lucknow-bound bus and allegedly threatened against informing police. According to inspector Dhirendra Kumar Singh, Naveen lost Yashpal's money in betting and it resulted into a dispute between the two. "An action will be taken on the basis of evidence," he said.
