Meerut, July 3 -- A 39-year-old laboratory technician from Kerala and a 24-year-old woman from Saharanpur were found dead inside a locked room in an SBI Colony house in Saharanpur late Wednesday night, with police suspecting the deaths to be linked to a love affair. However, police said the exact cause and sequence of events will be established only after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis. According to police, they received information on Wednesday night that the occupant of a room in SBI Colony had locked the door from inside and was not responding despite repeated calls from outside. A police team from Sadar Bazar police station rushed to the spot and peeped inside through a window. Sensing something suspicious, police broke open the door in the presence of local residents. Inside, they found the bodies of a man and a woman lying in the room. "A forensic team and field unit were immediately called to collect evidence. Preliminary investigation suggests that the man first slit the veins of his wrist before ending his life by partially hanging himself from the room's window. We suspect that the woman consumed a poisonous substance. No external injury marks were found on her body during the initial examination" said DSP Manoj Kumar Yadav. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and we are in contact with the families of both the deceased and also questioning neighbours and other local residents to reconstruct the events leading to the deaths. "At a first glance, the matter appears to be related to a love affair, and both deaths seem to be cases of suicide. However, the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading to the incident will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report, forensic examination and other evidence are analysed. Their mobile phones have been recovered. The man was married and had been living in Saharanpur for the past 10 years," Yadav added....
