Man, cousin killed as tractor rams bike
Meerut, Aug. 4 -- A young man and his teenage cousin sister were killed in a road accident in Badaun district, while they were on their way to bring their stranded uncle back home. The incident occurred late on Sunday night on the Ujhani-Sanjarpur road when their motorcycle was hit by a tractor.
The crash came even as the stranded man's eldest son remained critically injured in an intensive care unit (ICU) in Agra following a separate road accident. According to police and family members, Dhanpal Singh (35), the elder son of Jayaram, a resident of Sanjarpur village, had sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Agra and is undergoing treatment in the ICU of a hospital there. After receiving news of his son's condition, Jayaram left home to travel to Agra. However, after reaching Ujhani late at night, he was unable to continue his journey because no buses were available.
When the family learnt that Jayaram was stranded in Ujhani, his 23-year-old nephew, Meenu, decided to ride his motorcycle to bring his uncle back home. Meenu's 16-year-old cousin, Pari, insisted on accompanying him so that they could bring her father home together. The two cousins then left for Ujhani on the motorcycle.
Police said the accident took place when the motorcycle was about half a kilometre before Ujhani town. A tractor approaching from the opposite direction allegedly rammed into the two-wheeler with great force. The impact was so severe that Meenu and Pari suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot....
