LUCKNOW, May 1 -- The district health administration will organise a citywide malaria screening drive for labourers at 25 locations on Friday (May 1) to mark International Labour Day, focusing on early detection and treatment ahead of the peak transmission season. The labourers will also be provided with the Ayushman cards who all are eligible for it. Medical teams drawn from community and primary health centres have been deployed to conduct on-site testing, with priority given to labourers reporting fever lasting more than three days. Officials said the camps are designed to reach daily-wage workers at key congregation points, where access to routine healthcare is often limited. Chief medical officer NB Singh said nodal officers have been assigned for each site to ensure smooth operations, while CHC and PHC superintendents will supervise field teams. "Labourers with persistent fever will be screened. Those testing positive will be put on a 14-day radical treatment regimen," he said. Dr Singh further said that the eligible labourers will also be provided with the Ayushman card at the camps. To avoid supply gaps during the campaign, all centres have been directed to maintain adequate stocks of anti-malarial drugs, including Chloroquine and Primaquine. Testing and treatment will be provided free of cost under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, officials said. The screening camps will be set up at prominent labour hubs and intersections across the city, including Khurramnagar, Sitapur Road, Nishatganj, Vikasnagar, Engineering College area, Indira Dam at Kisan Path, Thakurganj, Rajajipuram, Alambagh, Aishbagh, Telibagh, Sarojininagar, Indiranagar, Chinhat, Mohanlalganj, Ashiyana, Hazratganj, Para, Dubagga, Bani and Aminabad.
