Dehradun, Feb. 9 -- A mass protest gathering demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe monitored by a Supreme Court judge into the sexual assault and murder of a 19-year-old hotel receptionist in 2022 was held on Dehradun's Parade Ground on Sunday, with a set of five resolutions passed unanimously at the event. The 'Mahapanchayat' (grand council) included representatives of political parties, social organisations and civil society groups. Of the five resolution included a CBI probe monitored by a Supreme Court judge, and the woman's parents be regarded as the case's central complainants. Participants raised slogans for justice and accountability, and called for full disclosure of the alleged involvement of a "VIP" associated with the ruling BJP in the case.
