Bharatpur/Karauli, March 11 -- Police on Wednesday arrested the mufti (principal) of a madrasa in Rajasthan's Karauli district for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old class 5 girl student, following a complaint from a social worker who provided video evidence of the abuse, officers said. Karauli superintendent of police Lokesh Sonwal said that the accused was booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and section 76 of BNS (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe). According to the police, the social worker often visited the madrasa and learnt about the incident from the girl student. On Tuesday, he filed a complaint with the police against the mufti and provided a pen drive containing CCTV footage of the madrasa that showed the accused's obscene activities with the girl student. "The victim's statement has been recorded before a magistrate. CCTV footage installed in the madrasa has also been recovered from the pen drive. He was seen sexually assaulting the class 5 girl. Police are interrogating him and searching the footage for further evidence of his obscene activities with girl students at the madrasa," Sonwal said. Police also seized the accused's phone, which contained pornographic content and obscene video clips. Police have yet to disclose whether the accused sexually assaulted other minor girls at the madrasa....
