LUCKNOW, Aug. 27 -- A large number of Muslims took out the Madhe Sahaba procession in Old City on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi on Wednesday. The procession began at 9am from Aminabad Park and passed through Maulviganj, Rakabganj, Nakkhas and Billauchpura before culminating at Aishbagh Eidgah around 1pm. The procession was led by Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, chairman of the Islamic Centre of India, along with Maulana Abdul Azeem Farooqi, Maulana Abdul Bari Farooqi and Maulana Muhammad Mushtaq. Nearly 100 organisations took part in the procession carrying banners. Along the route, many Hindu residents welcomed the processionists, displaying communal harmony. Several groups, including Majlis-e-Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Sahaba, the Islamic Centre of India, All India Sunni Board, Aman Shanti Samiti and Tahreek Tahaffuze Namoos-e-Rasool, helped manage the event. Office-bearers of the Islamic Centre of India and teachers of Darul Uloom Farangi Mahal welcomed the gathering at Aishbagh Eidgah, where a congregation was held on the theme, "Seeratun Nabi and Seerate Sahaba." Speakers included Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahli, Qari Abdul Hai (Naib Imam, Eidgah), Maulana Muhammad Mushtaq and Maulana Sufyan Nizami.
