LUCKNOW, May 19 -- Ludhiana's Ram Prakash of the Indian Railways delivered a masterful attacking display to win the two-day Rs 3 lakh Chess Maharaja Series #1, scoring 9.5/10, at the KD Singh Babu Stadium here late on Sunday evening. Organized by Chess Club Black and White (CCBW), the event was the largest chess tournament in Lucknow in 25 years, drawing strong participation and enthusiastic fans. Prakash, fresh from his recent triumph at the Dehradun International Open, remained unbeaten, drawing only once-against Saurabh Choubey of Satna. Sudhanshu Ranjan of Arrah finished solo second with 8.5 points, his sole defeat coming against Prakash. The competition proved fierce as seven players finished tied for third on 8 points-Candidate Master Deepak Katiyar (Kanpur), Saurabh Choubey (Satna), Sparsh Yadav (Prayagraj), Jagreet Misra (Delhi), Arif Ali (Lucknow), Aabhas Kumar Srivastava (Varanasi) and Himanshu Ranjan (Arrah). The senior citizen section showcased strong veteran performances. Hari Om Sharma (Delhi) topped the category with 7.5 points, followed by Anil Bajpai (Kanpur) and Pankaj Saxena (Lucknow) on 7 points. Suman Kumari (Varanasi) earned Best Woman Player with 7 points, ahead of Shimon Lata (Kanpur) who scored 5.5. Section winners included Gufran (Kanpur) in the 1400-1550 category with 7.5 points, Ravi Shankar (Lucknow) in 1551-1700 with 7 points, and Prashant Pandey (Kanpur, unrated) with 7.5 points. Local talent dominated the junior events, with Lucknow players winning every children's section: Lakshya Dwivedi (U16), Saransh Shukla (U15), Shourya Chahal (U14), Arun Kumar (U13), Yash Kumar Agrahari (U12), Aadvik Maheshwari (U11), Aarav Singh (U10) and Utkrist Misra (U9)....
