Lucknow sweats through hottest March opening in 3 yrs
LUCKNOW, March 6 -- The state capital is recording its hottest first week of March in three years, with the weekly mean temperature at 31.9 degrees Celsius, nearly 2 degrees above the 30-year average of 29.6 degrees, and mercury set to climb further in the coming days, the weatherman said on Thursday.
The city logged 31.3 degrees on Tuesday, 31.9 on Wednesday and 32.4 on Thursday.
Senior meteorologist Mohammad Danish said clear skies and the absence of any weather system were driving the rise, with mercury likely to climb another 2-3 degrees above normal in the coming days.
The mean maximum for the first week of March was 29 degrees in both 2020 and 2025, 26 degrees in 2024, 30 degrees in 2022, 31 degrees in 2021 and 32 degrees in 2023, according to Danish. A gradual increase in temperatures is expected over the coming week, he said....
