Lucknow, Aug. 2 -- A sub-inspector posted with Lucknow Police has been booked after a woman accused him of establishing physical relations with her on the false promise of marriage, assaulting her and issuing threats during the course of an investigation he was handling, police said on Saturday. According to a police statement, the complainant submitted a written complaint at Ashiana police station on August 1 against sub-inspector Dharmveer Shahi, who was the investigating officer in an earlier case registered as FIR No. 118/2026. In her complaint, the woman alleged that during the investigation, the officer engaged in obscene and romantic conversations with her, promised to marry her and established physical relations on that pretext. She further alleged that he later assaulted her and threatened to kill her. The complainant also alleged that on July 30, Shahi, along with two unidentified associates, assaulted her near Apollo Hospital and rammed her vehicle. She claimed that her mobile phone was snatched during the incident. She accused the officer of threatening to circulate her private material stored on the phone and implicate her in a false criminal case. "Acting on the complaint, Ashiana police registered an FIR under sections 64(2), 115(2), 351(3), 352 and 304(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," the statement added.
