Lucknow Police to Use Body Cameras, Forensic Kits in Emergency Response
LUCKNOW, May 17 -- Body-worn cameras and scientific crime scene kits are set to play a key role in emergency policing in Lucknow after the police commissionerate conducted a specialised technology training programme for police response vehicle personnel on Saturday.
"At the District Training Unit (DTU), police response vehicle (PRV) staff were trained in the use of body-worn cameras, PTZ surveillance systems and crime scene kits, with senior officers stressing that technology-driven policing can improve transparency, accountability and evidence collection during emergencies," read a Lucknow police press note.
Officials said the deployment of body-worn cameras would help create a real-time record of police action, reducing disputes related to conduct while enabling personnel to track suspicious activity and respond more effectively in law-and-order situations.
The session also covered using scientific crime scene kits for proper collection and preservation of evidence.
Officers were informed that lapses in handling evidence often weaken investigations and affect court proceedings, making on-site forensic practices increasingly necessary.
Shipra Pandey, assistant commissioner of police (112), addressing the programme, said modern policing depends on technology-enabled systems that support faster response and transparent public service delivery.
PRV personnel also received hands-on training in operating and maintaining the devices and were instructed to use the equipment with professionalism and sensitivity during emergency situations....
